Greed Lust Addiction – novel by Ravi Dabral – Book Review

Greed Lust Addiction is another novel after the one I read by Mohan Timmaraju that made me think. I have been reading novels by contemporary Indian authors for a while now and this has been a common experience – finding every alternate novel, almost, just taking the shape of a un-matterly romantic fiction with a girl and a boy dominating the plot and just nothing else. Ravi Dabral’s novel, Greed Lust Addiction, on the other hand, is a piece that offered many other things – a view of the current system, a view on the corruption practices, a view on the cures that we can look for and also a pride in the feeling that India has those mortals with spiritual power who can take us on the path of glory, once again.

Greed Lust Addiction is a class! It’s a novel that emphasises on the need to be ready to accept and adapt to new things in order to do something essential. Suraj learns many things from his mentor Guruji. In turn, Suraj becomes the leader to lead a team of many individuals who want to bring a change in the country through their political party – Human Welfare Party. Murders (twist), crimes, bribe, cases of fraud, judicial corruption, political illness and many other problems of our contemporary society are dealt with in the novel.

Moreover, the novel also brings out the individual problems that often takes the human beings in their grips – greed, lust and addiction. Ravi Dabral has managed to exhibit the cases of such problems in persons of modern society very effectively. We find Vijay in the grip of lust at the beginning of the novel. He also gets along with greed. On the other hand, when Suraj is tested for Lust towards the conclusion of the novel, we find that he has won over his weaknesses and has become a real winner!

Overall, I will say that Greed Lust Addiction is a novel that will entertain as well as make the readers learn about the things they should learn for sure. It a novel that gives out the message which most of the Gurus and Saints deliver during their satsangs. I am also sure that the novel can be read by the readers of any age group. It will be a pleasant experience reading this novel that is written with a purpose to bring the hidden and secret knowledge of saints to the commoners. Author’s personal experience has certainly come into play in writing this piece of fiction.
